Prairieland Feeds’ much-anticipated 26th Annual Pet Fair Extravaganza attracted thousands of fans of this fall event from near and far in September! This free, family-friendly event is sponsored by Prairieland Feeds to showcase the dozens of worthwhile non-profit animal welfare and adoption organizations in the area and to showcase hundreds of once-a-year bargains on products for every pet in your household!
On Saturday and Sunday, September 24-25, a cornucopia of exciting animals arrived for young and old to touch, see, ride, adopt, and learn about, including two American Bison calves (Mable and April), birds of prey, draft horse and pony rides for everyone to support Crosswinds Equine Rescue, and petting zoo with camels, llamas, goats, and more exotic animals to meet up close and feed.
We were also fortunate to have pet food reps on hand to help dog and cat owners with educational information, free samples, coupons, and handouts. The nutritional experts from Wellness, Hills Science Diet, Canidae, Natural Balance, Iams, Blue Buffalo, and Taste of the Wild & Diamond fielded hundreds of great questions about the broad diversity of pets in our area.
But the real stars of the day were the numerous animal rescue organizations — Champaign County Humane Society, S.H.A.R.E. and Crosswinds Equine Rescues, U of I Wildlife Clinic, Mobile Mutts, and more — who came to show the public what they do for each species and how everyone can help by supporting their work!
Plus, our once-a-year Super Sale Event ran the entire week before the fair so pet owners could take advantage of huge savings on everything in the store.
Whether you own a pet, or are interested in adopting one in the near future, or just enjoy seeing a menagerie of exotic species, this event is for animal lovers of all ages! Don’t miss the 27th presentation of this great event next fall.
And, as always, admission is free for the whole family!
